Yale comes out on top against U Penn in a tough battle at Headquarters

Yesterday marked new beginnings for Yale Rugby. It was the first league game of the 2015 season and the first parents association BBQ.  Many thanks to the Hogg Family for organizing!

1st XV

In the Connecticut sunshine, the Yale 1st VX scored 5 tries, resulting in a 25-14 victory. Tries from Luke Thomas 16' (2), Charlie Hill 18' (1), Bryan Herbert 18' (1) and Will Roberts 16' (1). After getting out to a 20-7 lead, U Penn fought back to bring the score to 20-14, making the second half a tense affair. However a final Yale try in the dying minutes of the game sealed the win. Next game at Princeton in two weeks.

Development XV

This was a great chance for many new players to play their first competitive game, as well as for veterans looking to work their way on to the 1st XV. Yale got out to an early lead thanks to tries from Nana Owusu 18' and Philip Vorster 19', but U Penn was able to get back into the game and out to a lead after a number of well-worked tries. A further score from Jay Majumdar 18' was not enough, as U penn came out on top 24-19. There were a total of 13 new players active in this game.
