Columbia edge Yale in Tight Contest

Yale traveled to NYC to take on Columbia in the final pre-season match. The game was fiercely contested, particularly at the breakdown, with neither side managing to convert pressure into points. It was in the 70th minute that Columbia crossed the line after a quick tap penalty and a fast pass out wide that lead to a try in the far left corner. Columbia also managed another try out wide in the 75th minute. Yale fought to the very end and did manage to cross the line in the final play of the match, however, the referee felt the line was not ‘in-line’ with the posts and did not award the try. It was a tough and physical match for both teams and evenly contested throughout and the experience was invaluable for Yale’s young team. Final score 10-0 to Columbia.

In the development match, Yale dominated with a 29-5 win. Tries were scored by Adam Rothman '22, Haris Gargovic '22, Daniel Esguerra '22, Ariel Melendez '23 and Jack Madden '23. Khaleel Rajwani '20 added two conversions.

Yale host the University of Pennsylvania on Sunday, September 22nd. 1.00 pm Kick-Off.
